Scary Movies Part One

Who among us wants to admit to being old enough when the real scary, legendary movie characters were born?  I remember when Freddie Krueger came on the scene with, "Nightmare On Elm Street". Talk about scaring the pants out of you as a kid. The original Nightmare On Elm Street, although I did enjoy the sequels, not part 2 though.  It didn't go with the rest of the movies at all.

Well played Freddie. I didn't sleep for days on end after seeing this. Even then it was months before I was able to fully sleep without nightmare!

Next up is Candyman. I am not afraid to admit this one scared the living daylights out of me as a teenager. I slept with the lights on for weeks after seeing this horror movie. Not only that, I covered all mirrors and crawled to the toilet so I couldn't see into the mirror. I can remember friends daring each other to look in the mirror and say, "Candyman" five times. Ummm no thank you!

Then there is Jason. Nothing like a crazed lunatic running around with a machete hacking up people to make you shiver. Though now that I think about it the simplest way to avoid Jason was never to be doing the hanky panky. He always shows up and does serious damage when teens are doing bad things.

The Exorcist never gets old no matter how many times it gets remade. Anything dealing with demons makes my hair stand on end. I had many of sleepless nights deathly afraid of demons attacking me. It is just one chilling movie and makes you wonder if it could happen.

Love it or hate it, " The Shining" will always be a classic. The book was ten times better than the movie. However the movie was graphic for it's time and remains to this day a horror classic.  Jack's line, "Here's Johnny", is still a great tag line.

Not that old, but still blood chilling. I bring you Jigsaw in the, "Saw". I have to say this series is in my top five favorite movies of all time. I love all the twists and turns these movies take you on. Just when you think you have it figured it out, a new twist appears.

I can't leave out Texas Chainsaw! Nothing like a psycho running around with a chainsaw cutting off various body limbs to get the blood pumping. I remember when I saw this movie and it frightened the heck out of me.  Every time I heard a chainsaw start up I shivered.

This is one crazy movie. I don't know which was worse the clown or the daughter who liked to "play" with cheerleaders. Not to mention they made their "prey" dress up in a rabbit costume to hunt him down. From start to finish you had the chills.

I am sure there is a few I left off. This is just what I can think of off the top of my head. Look for a part two to this list!
